Become a SSFC Ambassador

Southside Food Co-op

Cooperative Ambassadors are passionate supporters who help spread the vision of community ownership, food access, and economic empowerment. As an ambassador, you become a voice for the cooperative and help build a movement that ensures healthy food and shared prosperity for our South Side communities.

1. Become a Member Owner

The first step to becoming an ambassador is becoming a member-owner of Southside Food Co-op. Membership demonstrates your commitment to cooperative ownership and gives you a voice in shaping the future of our store.

2. Learn the Co-op Story

Ambassadors should be familiar with the mission and vision of the cooperative. This includes understanding:

  • Why the South Side needs a community-owned grocery store

  • The principles of cooperative ownership

  • How member ownership strengthens local economies and food access

3. Attend Ambassador Orientation

Participate in an orientation session where you will learn:

  • Key talking points about the co-op

  • How to invite others to become member owners

  • How to represent the cooperative at community events

4. Share the Vision

Ambassadors help grow the cooperative by sharing information with others. This can include:

  • Talking with friends, neighbors, and family

  • Sharing information on social media

  • Inviting others to community meetings and events

  • Encouraging people to become member owners

5. Participate in Community Outreach

Ambassadors may volunteer at:

  • Community events

  • Membership drives

  • Information tables

  • Food justice gatherings

6. Build the Movement

Every conversation matters. Ambassadors help build a stronger cooperative by inspiring others to believe in the power of community ownership.
